Further down on Rolling Stone’s list of 50 Best Albums of 2017, Migos album Culture ranked number nine following an impressive run this year as trap music begins to gain more traction in the mainstream. has already picked up an American Music Award for Favorite Album Rap/Hip-Hop Album and a BET Hip Hop Award for Album of the Year. The project is also one to watch for the upcoming Grammy Awards. With the release of DAMN, Kendrick Lamar cemented his place as one of the top five rappers of this generation, a topic that is a constant debate in hip hop culture. Kendrick Lamar is soaring high on Rolling Stone list of 50 Best Albums of 2017. “Hov’s 4:44 is easily top five albums this year, no way some of these pop artists drop a better project that Hov please revise this list,” one fan wrote. The LP sold 603,000 album-equivalent units in its first week to open at the top of the Billboard 200 chart in April of this year. There are very little folks who would disagree that Kendrick Lamar drops one of the best, if not the best, albums this year, DAMN. So it should come as no surprise that Rolling Stone named the project the best album of the year. The album DAMN. JAY-Z’s critically acclaimed new album 4:44 ranked number twelve and some of the rap legend’s fans are not too happy about that and think the project should at least be top five this year. SZA’s Ctrl came in at number twenty, while Drake’s More Life came in at number 27 just one place higher than Vince Staples’ Big Fish Theory. Chronixx is the only reggae artist to make the list with his Chronology album ranking 48. It went on to top the chart for four non-consecutive weeks and has since sold over 800,000 traditional album units and over 2 million album-equivalent units.
